Night Agent
Game Name: Night Agent
You are Night Agent, a covert operative trained to infiltrate more than just enemy strongholds. Your battleground is the mind itself.
Years of using The Serum — a compound taken before sleep — have burned away your ability to dream naturally. The Serum was never designed to help you sleep. Sleep comes easy; dreams don’t. The Serum’s job is to tear you out of natural rest and plunge you straight into the Dream State, an alternate reality where actions echo into the waking world. But the price of that shortcut is permanent — you’ll never dream on your own again.
The Dream State isn’t safe. It’s alive with shifting dungeons, monsters that shouldn’t exist, and hidden constructs built to keep secrets buried. Enemies exploit it, hiding their most valuable intelligence where no one else can touch it. And worse — you may have hidden something there yourself, something you don’t even trust your waking self to protect.
But the Serum comes with a curse: no matter how long you sleep in the real world — a second, an hour, or nine — the Serum only gives you thirty seconds in the Dream State. You might spend nine hours in bed, but only thirty seconds behind the veil. After thirty seconds, it’s not the world that ends. You glitch out. Your presence is ejected from the Dream State, but your body remains asleep for hours. You don’t wake — you just lie there, dreamless, locked in empty black until morning. The only way back into the Dream State is the next night: you must wait until you’re naturally tired again, take The Serum before sleep, and let it drag you back under.
Every night, every attempt, you reappear at the same point — thirty seconds before your glitch. The monsters return. The dungeons reset. The clock ticks mercilessly. The Dream State endures, but you can never stay.
In the Dream State, logic has no hold. One night you’re sprinting across rooftops, the next you’re rocketing skyward with a jet pack strapped to your back. It’s not built by any agency, it doesn’t burn fuel, it just works because you believe it will. It’s spy gear torn straight from a hallucination — impossible tech in an impossible world.
Your mission is information retrieval. Someone — maybe your enemies, maybe yourself — has locked critical knowledge inside the Dream State. You’ve been chasing it for what feels like countless nights. And until you find it, you’ll keep injecting The Serum, keep sleeping, keep glitching out…
Because you are the Night Agent.
And every night, no matter how long you sleep, you only ever get thirty seconds.
